This notice explains, in plain language, how the NERSSS Alumni Association ("we") handles your personal data. It is written to honour the spirit and requirements of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
When you register, we ask for: your name, email, phone (optional), the year and class you passed, roll number (optional), city and country, profession and employer (optional), LinkedIn (optional), and any memories of the school you choose to share. We also record the time of your consent and the IP address the form was submitted from, to protect against misuse.
Why we collect it
For one purpose: running the alumni association — verifying that members genuinely studied at NERSSS, maintaining the member register, organising reunions and events, and (only if you separately tick those boxes) listing you in the member directory, adding you to batch WhatsApp groups, and sending you the newsletter.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, recruiters, or any third party for their own purposes. Data is shared only with the volunteers who administer the association, and only as needed.
Your choices and rights
Every consent is optional and separate — registration requires only the basic membership consent. You may at any time: ask what data we hold about you, correct it, withdraw any consent, or ask us to erase your record entirely. Write to us and we will act within a reasonable time.
Children
This service is for former students, who are adults. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
Grievances
For any data concern, contact the association at the email on this site. If we cannot resolve it, the Data Protection Board of India is the statutory authority.
